In case no one else has shared, the come-back of the year:

That was former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s response to the news that her name was among those of the people Russia sanctioned today, forbidding their entry into Russia and freezing any Russian assets they might have. Clinton, of course, was the one who warned in 2016 that then-candidate Donald Trump would be “[Russian president Vladimir] Putin’s puppet” if he were elected.

Two shawls wet and hung up to dry overnight. Woven on the same warp—one with deep to deeper pink weft (early strawberries and dark cherries), the other with sage greens (purple sage all the way).
I am making progress on my major 2022 project of weaving down my stash. One warp a month, at least ten skeins for the warp, another nine or ten for the weft. The challenge of finding colors that collaborate has been fruitful. Who would have thought my massive one-of-a-kind skein played against whatever I could find would host two shawls that are so very different and both beautiful (though maybe not both to everyone’s taste)? You can see the shadow stripes in the warp, I think. They are deliberate, in case anyone thinks I rely on the gorgeous yarn to do all the heavy lifting. I use handspun and hand-dyed yarn for their gorgeous shifting hues, but I still use a dozen colors in every warp and another dozen in the weft in order to get the effects I am after. I enjoy the shifting patterns that result. I took a chance with the green weft, and wow did it pay off!

HILLARY CLINTON—the best president we never had and like the hero of Ukraine is a comedian as well—talk about a renaissance person—wow—she does loom large on the loom of life. If she had been in that office instead of the festering turd, the world would not be in the mess it is in now—oh yeah, also nice shawls, my love.

Our lives would be so different, the world would be different, if Hillary had won the 2016 election. The elected fool made a terrible mess of things. Your weavings are gorgeous. I cannot imagine the talent that takes.

He weakened the country, and for all that his bragging and bluster fooled some people, he made a fool of our nation internationally. I have a friend in Russia who is ashamed of Putin, just as I was ashamed of that man.

Yes to all of the above! Love your beautiful weavings, the colors, the texture. Love Gary’s comment, “Hillary Clinton–the best president we never had”. Now, why didn’t I think of that?

He’s been saying that since 2016. He watched the entire Ben Ghazi hearings and was tremendously impressed by her patience. (Any woman who’d gone hysterical the way a certain Supreme Court nominee did during his hearing would have been laughed off the planet. Women are damned if they do, damned if they don’t.) He’s been a supporter from day one.
(And thank you! Taking risks with the weaving has been paying off, though I shouldn’t be surprised. When pushed to try an unlikely pairing, the results can be marvelous. I learned that lesson years ago when I wove a mother-and-baby pair of shawl and baby blanket from the same warp using the “awful” too-bright yarns from my stash because she wanted blue and orange—one of my favorite warps ever.)

If we are in a friendly competition as to who uses up her stash first, I would predict your win. If ifs a competition of who dies with most yarn I am likely to win.

I love your weaving and the shawls. But, in honour of St. Patrick’s Day I wore Ed’s green one to work today – surprisingly distracting as I kept stroking it as if I had a cat draped over my shoulder. Contributed to a nice day.

Your weaving work is exciting and intriguing. The colors you’ve used are some of my favorites. Also loved the quote from Heather Cox Richardson and your husband’s comment about Hillary. Hope you’re enjoying your time with your threads. I’ve pulled out some unfinished knitting projects as my writing has grown cold and stale. I’m hoping working through the knitting will refresh certain areas of my brain and my creativity.
