      • And the Central Library is a *beautiful* building. I love the Children’s Library with its tribute to Beverly Cleary, and I love the grand staircase also.

      • Yes, it is. I have spent time in that branch—without checking out anything, of course, but now I have an address! I used to bring students to Portland to use the PSU Library too. Our school library was so very poor.

  1. happy birthday again and forever to someone who is not afraid of side trips miles and hours out of the way but to see the sea and sunset knowing that coffee will come in the morning when most people are sleeping as Moby Grape sings –again with joy–kiitos–love Gary

    • Absolutely exploring and discovering similarities and differences. We were surprised, for example, that the water in Portland is better than on the coast. We filter drinking water in both places, but the city water does not smell of chlorine as it does here when it runs from the tap!

  2. Hi Jan,
It’s been a long time. Happy Birthday and I miss our October birthday parties even though mine is the end of September. I occasionally get to the beach and would love to come by and say Hi.
