HOPELINGS

header+logo+2Bracken, the online journal from Washington, believes in hope to get us all by through with “love of the woods and its shadows.”

It is a beautiful magazine I’ve already recommended. Begin with Bracken’s main page because just now you do not want to miss another look at Amanda Greive’s art, and then click on “Coronavirus Hopelings” for a series of lovely offerings. I sincerely recommend the short piece from yesterday, called “Yellowing.” I’m there too.

P.S. I am a little embarrassed to ask, but I would be grateful if you “liked” my photo essay at Hopelings.

  1. What a beautiful journal! And your piece is lovely with those vast pictures. Here in Maine we experience some of that same powerful coastal timeless magnificance.

    • Thank you, Karen. My great-grand aunts who first purchased the property I live on were from Maine. Maybe one reason they chose this place was that it reminded them of home.

It is one of my ambitions to be included in an issue of Bracken. Their covers are always stunning and their mission is heartfelt. (And I played with bracken as a child.)

      • Your entry about Bracken inspired me to work up a piece I had jotted down and submit it to Coronavirus Hopelings. I hadn’t managed to work on anything since the pandemic and I’d forgotten how much fun it is to puzzle over dilemmas like whether to use the word ‘capture’ or ‘memorialize’ and so on! Thank you for this!
