Gary and I used to run up this hill. I’ll call it a 30° angle, but I’m just tossing out a number. It felt like pretty much straight up.  (At top you can see the concrete barriers blocking the parking lot.)

We went for a long walk the other day—two miles from home and then back with another mile or so of up and down shore to hunt for agates and sea glass. I finished the pair of socks I’ve been knitting and washed and blocked them. I should have baked bread but we got by with the last slices. The moon really was lemon that night.

Yesterday I wound a new warp I am calling “Spring Carnaval” because it’s half brightly hand-dyed and handspun yarn—Bluefaced Leister, Merino, and Targee—offset by a finer Canadian handpainted Merino (Koigu) in several shades of lavender. It’s all wool and I keep wanting to pet it just to have my hands on the colors. The weft yarns are already laid out and ready to go and each will tilt the color scheme in a different direction—toward purples or greens or peacock. I hope to be weaving by tomorrow.

In the mean time, the fabric laid out all over the floor has been gathered up. The next quilt will wait.

Gary has been working in the garden the past week and more, moving stones and obsessively weeding. He found only a couple of horsetail sprouts and no ivy or blackberries at all. He has some fancy plans.

The salal hedge has set berries already! I might be making jam sooner than I think. Gardener friends agree: the plants are confused.

Blue skies, whitecaps out on the ocean, Steller’s jays forage in the garden. The sparrows were glad of fresh water in the birdbath. Gary swears one little guy looked right at him and said, “This is so nice!”

Two pairs of socks knit from a lovely hand-dyed merino, yak, and silk blend plus merino toes with a bit of nylon. I want to knit a pair for myself later this summer.

Our youngest grandchild wanted to see us. We had talked on the phone, but she wanted to see us so Alan set up a Jitsi page and it was good to see the family.
