DONE so far

I put on a warp each month, beginning in December and two in March, and chose weft colors to create two quite different shawls. I have only to sew in the labels.

Today, I finished our federal and state taxes and sent them off. We walked the shore for nearly three hours and found sea glass and came home tired. I took the “Sugar” warp shawls off the drying rack and folded them onto the pile. That was all I had in mind for the day. I confess I’d had my doubts about getting the taxes completed, but here we are.

Done.

Of course, our printer isn’t speaking to my laptop (we figured that one out). The landline decided it was too tired to work (that too). And I have not started winding off skeins into balls (well… there’s time for that later).

The black oystercatcher couple is in the creek each morning these days. We’re particularly fond of them. I don’t have any black yarn, but maybe I will weave an oystercatcher warp in April. They are careful birds, fleeing into the ocean if we are near and performing elaborately to distract us when they have youngsters.
What I wove recently, from the bottom to top, February (the bottom two) through March (the top four). As different as they appear, these were made in three pairs, the goldenrod and marigold on the same warp in February, the early cherry and smokey sage in March and the top two on the same “Sugar” warp.

I have a lot of browns, and some are incompatible. I have three skeins of handspun too. At least two of them will be in the April warp. Blue in May. Some crazy mash-up for June? Stay tuned.

  2. Good thing that the phone was not working otherwise who knows how long it would have been before we smartened up and got the printer to work! It is amazing what can be accomplished with just the flip of the switch! How did our ancestors ever exist without the mere flip of the switch? They must have been really smart—perhaps that is why they always wore their wonderfully knitted hats—Tevye!
