Several recent attempts at reading have been… depressing? discouraging? demeaning? Delight might be what I am after. I am wide awake in the middle of the night. Eight hours last night, tonight just four? I don’t know, maybe it’s time for some serious funny.
Just now, our son Ian is making short films. (The ballet is at rest and he is between random gigs so keeping busy.) I came across this one almost by accident. He rarely tells us about shows he’s working on, and this video is delightful: “Harry Potter Can’t Blink.” (Honest, you want to see this.)
If it makes you smile, there are currently three more non-blinking Harry Potter shorts on YouTube: “Harry Potter Can’t Blink, Part 2”, “Harry Potter Can’t Blink, Part 3”, and “Harry Potter Can’t Blink, Part 4, Goblet of Fire.” Each is just a minute or two long and up in the last month. Will there be a Part 5? And then there is also “Harry Potter—Draco Malfoy Slam Jam.”
His children love the film Encanto, and here’s another short that made me laugh, and may be my favorite:
Ian said he learned how to do some of the effects while making this short. If it gives you a giggle, click “LIKE” at the bottom of the video on YouTube. I think he likes that.

And I add this last video late. The stand-up bass begins with a solo of “With a Little Help from My Friends” and then… “Ode to Joy.” I having been watching this performance for ten years and it still makes me cry.
Very creative and cool! Thanks for the laughs!

I think one of our children might be on the plectrum or spectrum, but I can’t remember which one that it might be. Any thoughts? ha ha —the answer is oblivious and will subdue us as we are bent to their will.

fyi A family expression via my parents. When my brother and I were small, friends suggested to my parents that they should “Bend them to your will!” My mother and dad thought this was hysterical—the couple had no children but still thought they knew best.
