Gary was after me to post today. It’s π day, we missed our walk, but entertained ourselves watching the tarp peel off the remodel next door.

We didn’t exactly enjoy watching the tarp billow and blow around in the wind. But we watched. That’s mean of me, I guess. Sorry. We thought at first the framework on the roof was only meant to hold (the third attempt since pulling off the roofing in January) tar paper in place, but then last week the electrician drilled holes for wiring to allow lighting. So maybe it’s meant as framing for a new layer of roof. Do they need permission for that? They tarped the roof and while they were doing that last Friday, Gary and I were guessing how long it would take to blow off. In less that two days it was wrapped around the chimney and hanging off the corner of the building—or as soon as there was a light wind. Mean again. Sorry.
Predictable.
Adepts have succeeded in memorizing the value of π to over 70,000 digits.
Wikipedia
The Wikipedia page for π (pi) goes on and on. Pi is not predictable and those trailing digits never end, at least not in base ten. It begins with 3.14 (March 14, but then 3.1415926535 . . . ) and then just goes on and on, like gratitude and affection. This is where I thank Mr. Finley who taught me 6th grade Science and Math. We raised meal worms and charted their development. We spent months working in base 5. I designed a research project to determine whether White Cloud Mountain Fish could see color. Maybe not.
So I made a pie for Pi Day. Mr. Finley, if you are out there like Mrs. Ice, a blessing on both your houses. You made my life better.
I wonder if contractors based away from the coast have any idea of the wind we get here. I think the tarp was intended to keep out the rain. Of course that was futile and all the shreds of billowing plastic accomplish is keeping the neighbors awake.

I did try to warn the owner about rain and wind before he began the work. Good contractors have been and always are busy, but the owner was in a hurry. A contractor from out of the area is not likely to send a great crew two hours away. There has been no site manager or understanding of the rain, wind, or runoff. It wasn’t even a strong wind today! Muddy water is streaming downhill, black plastic flying all over—we heard it for hours. l am sorry for Dan. I worked on a lot of jobs, but this one is struggling.
In other word, no, they don’t.

I precooked the filling in my low Le Creuset for a long time, mostly covered. I was afraid the mango would cook down to mush and was delighted that it didn’t! So good!
